About Us

International Youth Legal Exchange Federation (“IYLEF”) was founded by a group of young lawyers and law students in 2017 and based in Hong Kong, with the vision to nurture and unite the next generation of Hong Kong legal minds. IYLEF is dedicated to:-

  • Promoting the rule of law and legal knowledge among young people;
  • Providing law students and young legal professions with a multi-faceted platform of exchange across jurisdictions;
  • Assisting the young legal professionals to develop their legal career.

IYLEF from time to time organises youth legal internship programmes and thematic exchange programmes both on its own and in collaboration with different partnership organisations. In 2017, IYLEF successfully launches the first ever “International Youth Exchange Programme 2017 - Building the Rule of Law along the Belt and Road”, sending a delegation of 30 elite law students from Hong Kong to Singapore for a week of legally-themed exchange activities.

The Programme

The aims of the Mainland China Legal Internship Programme for Hong Kong Youths 2019 are to widen law students' horizon, to provide them valuable working experiences in Mainland, and to deepen their understanding over the operation of the Mainland legal system. The programme is created in light of the 'Belt and Road' Policy promulgated by the Chinese Government and supported by Hong Kong government in her recent Policy Address. Therefore, we hope this internship programme will provide new inspiration to the local law students as to their future career in regard of the Chinese economic development and its regional cooperation opportunities which creates huge demand for professional services.

This year, we are more than grateful to have attained sponsors from the Home Affairs Bureau of the HKSAR Government and Youth Development Commission; at the same time being supported by the Office of the Government of the HKSAR in Beijing, Guangdong, Shanghai and London, as well as the Department of Law, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR.
